Welcome to the homepage of the German Purine Club
Nucleotides including ATP, ADP, UTP and UDP, the nucleoside adenosine and more recently also the nucleobase adenine not only play a multifaceted and central role in intracellular metabolism, but they also are among the most ubiquitous intercellular signal substances in animal and human organisms. They are involved in the regulation of a vast number of physiological and pathophysiological processes. They exert their functions via a multiplicity of cell surface-located receptors.
The German Purine Club is devoted to the study of this fascinating new filed of science. At present the German Purine Club represents a loose association of scientists active in this field in Germany.
